Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO and a well-known Dogecoin (DOGE) supporter has once again excited the Dogecoin (DOGE) community.
Elon Musk unveiled Tesla’s new autonomous vehicle, the “Cybercab,” at an event in Los Angeles on Friday. The vehicle, designed to be used as a robotaxi, featured a prominent Shiba Inu — the symbol of Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE).
Musk arrived at the event, which was held on a Hollywood film set, in the Cybercab. The vehicle drew attention from both car enthusiasts and crypto enthusiasts alike.
Dogecoin’s official X (NYSE:X) account reacted to the unveiling, calling the vehicle a “Shiba Inu taxi.”
The appearance of the Shiba Inu in the Cybercab led to speculation that Tesla may begin accepting Dogecoin as a payment method for the vehicle.
Several members of the Dogecoin community quickly shared their excitement on X.
DogeDesigner (@cb_doge), who frequently interacts with Musk, reacted enthusiastically.
“Wait, did Elon just say we can buy a Tesla Cybercab with Dogecoin? He dropped ‘You’ll be able to buy one’ right when Doge appeared riding in the Cybercab!”
Sir Doge of the Coin (@dogeofficialceo) also highlighted the moment.
“Tesla featured a Shiba Inu Doge in their Robotaxi video,”
Another user, Đoge420 (@dogecoine420), shared her excitement and wondered if DOGE could be accepted for Cybercab payments.
Her tweet, like DogeDesigner’s, highlighted the optimism within the community about possible Tesla-Dogecoin integrations.
However, some expressed caution.
Astro (@Astro1062) pointed out the lack of solid details from Tesla about payment methods.
“Zero information from Tesla regarding how you will pay for Cybercab rides (it just might be available in 2026). Zero information from X regarding XPayments and zero information from Starlink regarding their collaboration with Dogecoin,” he noted.
“It’s too quiet.,”
During the Cybercab presentation, Musk outlined Tesla’s vision for the future of transportation.
He criticized traditional cars, saying they “just do nothing,” while autonomous vehicles like the Cybercab could be used much more efficiently.
The Cybercab, a two-seater with scissor doors, has no steering wheel or pedals, highlighting its full autonomy. Its minimalist interior, like the Model 3 and Model Y, features a central touchscreen to enhance the tech experience.
One of the standout features is its wireless charging capability, removing the need for cables. Although specifics on range, battery size, or charging speed were not revealed, Musk suggested an ambitious production schedule.
Manufacturing is set to begin in 2026, with each Cybercab costing less than $30,000. Musk aims to deploy a fleet of autonomous Tesla cabs, accessible through an app, that will reduce transport costs to $0.20 per mile, far below the current $1 per mile for city buses.
In addition to the Cybercab, Musk also unveiled the “Robovan,” a self-driving minibus capable of carrying 20 passengers, signaling Tesla’s push to transform public transport with autonomous technology.
Tesla also showcased advancements in its humanoid robot project, Optimus. A group of these robots demonstrated their abilities, with Musk highlighting significant progress. He projects that Optimus could become a key part of society, with prices ranging from $20,000 to $30,000.
Musk has consistently promoted self-driving vehicles as central to Tesla’s future. He previously suggested that Tesla owners could earn money by including their cars in a robotaxi network.
This concept ties into the unveiling of the Cybercab and Robovan, cementing Tesla’s lead in autonomous transport innovation.
Despite the buzz, Dogecoin’s reaction has been muted. As of now, Dogecoin is priced at $0.1165, according to Brave New Coin’s Dogecoin Price Index.
