The cryptocurrency market exhibited a mixed performance during the past week, with Mantle emerging as the standout performer, surging by an impressive 43.62%. However, KuCoin experienced a significant decline of 17.08%, marking it as the worst performer.
Positive Sentiment
Investors have demonstrated renewed confidence in the digital asset market, as evident in the substantial $323.8 million net inflow into iShares Bitcoin. This influx propelled the fund's assets to reach $17.2 billion, representing a 1.9% increase.
Galaxy Digital Holdings, led by Michael Novogratz, reported a significant profit in the fourth quarter, driven by rising digital asset prices and increased trading volumes. Net income soared to $301.5 million, or 90 cents per share, reversing the previous year's loss of $288.88 million.
Market Challenges
Despite the positive sentiments, the market also encountered challenges. KuCoin, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, and two of its founders have been charged by U.S. prosecutors for failing to comply with anti-money laundering regulations. The exchange allegedly failed to implement measures to prevent illicit activities, including terrorist financing.
Ripple Labs faces a potential fine of over $2 billion for selling its XRP token to institutional investors. The U.S. SEC claims that the company has increased XRP sales since the regulator initiated legal proceedings.
