CoinShares Appoints Lisa Avellini as New Group General Counsel

CoinShares, a prominent cryptocurrency asset management company, has announced the appointment of Lisa Avellini as its new Group General Counsel. Avellini will succeed Graeme Dickson, who left CoinShares in September to join the Algorand Foundation.

Avellini brings over two decades of legal and regulatory experience to her new role at CoinShares. Prior to joining the company, she served as Deputy General Counsel at Balyasny Europe Asset Management, where she gained substantial expertise in handling complex legal matters within the investment industry. Avellini has also held senior legal positions at Citadel, Sidley Austin, and Clifford Chance.

In her new position at CoinShares, Avellini will be responsible for overseeing global legal and regulatory affairs, providing strategic counsel to the executive team, and supporting the firm’s continued growth in the digital asset sector.

Headquartered in Jersey, CoinShares is an alternative asset manager specializing in cryptocurrency assets, providing both asset management and trading services to a range of institutional and individual investors. According to CEO Jean-Marie Mognetti, Avellini's appointment will strengthen CoinShares as it navigates the increasingly integrated digital asset ecosystem, which is becoming more closely aligned with traditional finance and its regulatory frameworks.

"Her extensive background in legal and regulatory affairs will be instrumental in helping the firm maintain compliance and capitalize on growth opportunities in this evolving space," Mognetti added.

Avellini expressed her enthusiasm about joining CoinShares at such a pivotal time for the company. "My career has been driven by a commitment to innovation, and I believe the digital asset industry offers unique challenges and opportunities," she explained. "I am eager to leverage my legal expertise to support CoinShares' strategic goals and further enhance the company's robust compliance culture."

Meanwhile, Dickson, who served as CoinShares' Group General Counsel for five years, has bid farewell to the firm to join the Algorand Foundation as Chief Legal Officer. Dickson's legal career also included positions at Aviva, White & Case, and Linklaters. As CoinShares bids farewell to Dickson, the company is confident that Avellini's leadership will help steer the company through the next phase of its growth.

CoinShares is a leading provider of cryptocurrency Exchange-Traded Products (ETPs), offering reliable investment solutions for easy access to digital assets. As Europe's largest and longest-standing digital investment group, CoinShares is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm (CS) and OTCQX (CNSRF). Headquartered in Jersey, with a presence in France, Sweden, the UK, and the US, CoinShares is committed to serving global investors.
