Coinbase’s roadmap just got a fresh update with the addition of three new tokens: Morpho (MORPHO), Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) and Popcat (POPCAT).
Coinbase’s roadmap, which showcases upcoming assets that the exchange might list, now includes Morpho Token (MORPHO), Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) and Popcat (Sol) (POPCAT).
A roadmap inclusion does not guarantee a full listing, but it does give traders a heads-up about upcoming possibilities. More transparency, fewer surprises — at least in theory.
Meme coins continue to thrive, and Coinbase is aware of it. Both POPCAT and PENGU are heavily influenced by online culture. A photo of a cat named Oatmeal, which became a viral trend in 2020, served as the inspiration for Popcat.
The meme persisted throughout the year, spawning Instagram music edits, online clicker games and, ultimately, crypto. Despite the absence of any complicated technology, the community’s enthusiasm for the token has ensured its survival.
Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) functions on Solana as a community token, but its impact extends beyond the blockchain. The Ethereum-based NFT collection, which consists of 8,888 unique, randomly generated penguins, has established a brand around itself. This project is making an impact outside the crypto bubble, with digital collectibles, real-world products like Pudgy Toys and even Pudgy World.
Morpho (MORPHO) is a completely different story. This one is concerned with DeFi, in contrast to the meme-heavy selections. A non-custodial lending protocol called Morpho optimizes borrowing and lending procedures on Aave and Compound.
Morpho directly matches lenders and borrowers rather than using the traditional pool-based lending method, which makes transactions more effective. Less spread, better rates and increased capital efficiency.
Finally, there is the market response, which is always interesting despite being predictable. Prices changed as a result of the announcement. In accordance with its name, POPCAT increased by 25%. Morpho saw an 8% increase. PENGU also followed suit with a comparable gain. Early traders are probably content.
