Charles Hoskinson Reveals Promising Discussions with Ripple Regarding Future Collaborations

Dec 29, 2024 at 05:14 pm

Recently, Cardano's founder, Charles Hoskinson, revealed details of his recent meetings with Ripple and the possibility of interoperability between the two blockchain networks.

Charles Hoskinson Reveals Promising Discussions with Ripple Regarding Future Collaborations

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has revealed details of recent meetings with Ripple, discussing the possibility of interoperability between the two blockchain networks.

During an AMA session, Hoskinson shared that he had a good discussion with Ripple’s team regarding future collaborations, which he described as “promising.”

Hoskinson also interacted with the creators of RLUSD, the recently launched stablecoin by Ripple. Currently tradeable on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, RLUSD plans to list on other blockchain platforms. According to Hoskinson, Cardano could be part of those networks in 2024. He added that working with Ripple’s team is a pleasure.

“Ripple has been easy to work with. We also met with the $RLUSD people. We're really proud of them. I do believe (RLUSD) will add other chains. There's no reason for us not to work together.”

The RLUSD developers are now working on the recovery following a difficult beginning. While Ripple has not announced the plan of stablecoin and its development in detail, Hoskinson expressed confidence in the prospects for the stablecoin in the Cardano ecosystem. He said, “There is no reason for us not to work together,” showing the possibilities of RLUSD in the Cardano DeFi ecosystem.

Prospects for Ripple Integration into the Midnight Ecosystem

Apart from the discussion on RLUSD, Hoskinson also mentioned that Ripple may become part of Cardano’s Midnight ecosystem. Midnight is a privacy-focused sidechain developed to promote secure transaction and data privacy.

Hoskinson said that the talks between the Ripple and Midnight teams are still ongoing, as both sides are considering ways to integrate their technologies. He noted that Cardano’s technologies, such as the Marlowe smart contract platform, may be of value to Ripple’s operations.

“We'd like to include Ripple in the Midnight ecosystem, there are ongoing talks. Marlowe we invented would be tremendously useful with Ripple. First step was technical conversations with Ripple CTO David Schwartz.”

Although a formal partnership had not been established, Hoskinson described the possible cooperation scenario. He said that basic conversations with Ripple CTO David Schwartz have already been held regarding the technical details. These discussions could open the door for more extensive cooperation and collaboration in the future.

Hoskinson also noted how Cardano and Ripple could collaborate to foster the development of blockchain. Although the formal contract may still take some time, the groundwork for a genuine collaboration has been set. Each of the ecosystems is expected to gain from technology transfer and increased application to users.

Hoskinson Commends Ripple CTO David Schwartz

Recently, on the 23rd of December, during a livestream, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson appreciated the knowledge of Ripple CTO David Schwartz. Speaking on a live stream, Hoskinson referred to Schwartz as a brilliant and passionate person who has stood his ground in the face of difficulties at Ripple. He pointed out that Schwartz played a big role in Ripple’s fight against the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Hoskinson also highlighted Schwartz’s character, saying that Schwartz is very easy to work with and lively in his interactions. He also applauded Ripple for achieving milestones even with the challenges of legal battles, lawsuits, and delistings.

Ripple has been in a legal battle with the SEC since December 2020. The SEC alleged that the company had carried out an unregistered securities offering by selling XRP tokens. In July 2023, Ripple received a favorable ruling in part when a federal court determined that XRP is not a security when sold on a public exchange. However, the problems and appeals remain unsolved and ongoing in the case.
