Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has not been invited to the White House crypto summit.
Mar 06, 2025 at 06:26 pm
This week, all eyes in the crypto scene have been on President Donald Trump's announced first-ever White House crypto summit slated for Friday, March 7
The crypto industry is buzzing with anticipation for President Donald Trump’s first-ever White House crypto summit on Friday, March 7.
The president has been personally involved in selecting the attendees for the summit, making it a highly exclusive event.
This involvement underscores Trump’s growing influence on the crypto sector, with his mentions often seen as a seal of approval.
Over the weekend, the president set the market ablaze with mentions of projects he’d like to see included in a proposed national crypto reserve.
However, anyone expecting a mention from Trump over the weekend to guarantee representation at Friday’s roundtable may be in for a surprise.
Cardano Snubbed Despite Trump’s Mention
While Trump recommended including Cardano’s native token ADA in the proposed national crypto reserve, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has not received an invitation to the White House crypto summit.
“I have not been invited to go to this gathering,” Hoskinson confirmed to followers in a live stream on Thursday, March 6.
His claims of being in touch with White House officials throughout the week suggest an ongoing dialogue despite the lack of a direct invitation.
“We were told that there’d be a list that comes out on Monday. We did not get an invitation on Monday, we did not get an invitation on Tuesday. We did not get an invitation today, on Wednesday. So, I’m going to operate under the assumption I have not been invited to go to this gathering,” he elaborated.
Furthermore, despite a list circulating online, only Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Kraken CEO Arjun Sethi, Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey, Exodus CEO J.P. Richardson, Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang, Multicoin Capital co-founder Kyle Samani, Chainlink founder Sergey Nazarov, and Zach Witkoff, the co-founder of Trump’s family crypto project World Liberty Financial, have been confirmed to attend the summit.
Cardano Still Shaping Policy in Other Ways
During Thursday’s live stream, Cardano’s Hoskinson diligently tried to minimize the importance of the White House summit while highlighting the true focus on crypto policy with the legislative arm.
In this domain, he implied a full engagement of Cardano, mentioning frequent meetings with lawmakers without disclosing specific names.
“I had travel plans to go to Japan, supposed to get on a plane here in a little bit, and I will be Friday, the seventh in Japan. I’m going to operate on the assumption that I’m not going to this event, especially after this video, and that’s okay. I’m always available for a phone call, and I’m always available for email and my very strong opinions about things, where they should go, what they should do, how they should do things. And I’ll express those opinions to those who ask me,” Hoskinson concluded as he wound down the stream.
