Pawtucket, Rhode Island - Tonight, renowned boxer and former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Middleweight Champion Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade will assume the esteemed role of flipping the ceremonial coin before the Rhode Island FC soccer match against the defending USL Championship titleholders, Phoenix Rising FC. The match will commence at 7:30 p.m. at Beirne Stadium. This occasion marks Andrade's inaugural honorary coin toss at a professional soccer game.

Andrade's journey in the ring commenced at the tender age of six. From October 20, 2018, to August 26, 2022, he held the WBO middleweight title before advancing to the super middleweight division. In 2017, Andrade briefly claimed the World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight title before transitioning to middleweight. His signature left-handed jab and formidable right-hand punch earned him consecutive United States amateur titles in 2005 and 2006. Andrade's stellar record further includes triumphs at the 2006 and 2007 National Golden Gloves championships.

His first international accolade arrived in 2007 when he secured a silver medal at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Hailing from the Ocean State, Andrade boasts a remarkable professional boxing record of 32 wins and only one defeat, with 19 of his victories coming by way of knockout.

Tickets for this special evening, designated as "Champions Night" and featuring a collaborative beer between Rhode Island FC and The Guild Brewing Company, are still available for purchase at rhodeislandfc.com/tickets. The first 500 attendees will receive complimentary mini soccer balls, courtesy of Capelli Sport, the exclusive on-field apparel and equipment provider for Rhode Island FC.
