New Bluey $1 coins and stamp pack coming to Australia Post on September 2

The coins are expected to attract high demand and the post office revealed there will be rare coloured coins hidden in some packs.

Australia Post is set to release a new collection of Bluey $1 coins on Monday, with some lucky Aussies set to find rare coloured coins hidden in the packs.

The coins will be available individually in collectable cards or in a 10-coin tube and folder set.

The individual coins will set you back $10 each, while the tube of 10 coins will cost $29.

The coins will also be available in your change when paying in cash at Australia Post.

Keep an eye out for the $1 Bluey and Bingo coins in your change when paying in cash.

Aussies will have the chance to get one special coloured Bluey coin, which will be randomly placed in one-in-ten tubes.

“Plus, keep your eyes peeled for $1 Bluey and Bingo coins in your loose change when paying in cash,” Australia Post said.

Along with random placements, the coloured coin with Bluey chasing a balloon will be available through the mint's online ballot system.

The full set of three coloured Bluey dollarbucks coins retailed for $55.

The coins are not the same as the coloured Bluey dollarbucks released earlier this year, which included a collection of three colourful coins featuring the Heeler family.

The full set retailed for $55 but the coins skyrocketed in price the day of their release, selling for as much as $375 on eBay. That's more than six times the original price.

Coin expert Matthew Thompson of Thompson's Coins and Collectables told Yahoo Finance the coloured coins were so valuable as they had such a low mintage, along with the huge popularity of the children's television program.

"The coloured release only had 30,000, but the ones being released in Australia Post will have a much higher mintage," he said.

"[The September release] are not coloured so not quite as rare or collectable. But, anytime there is Bluey involved, there's going to be a lot of demand."

Two men were arrested and charged with allegedly stealing tens of thousands of the unreleased Bluey coins from a Sydney warehouse in July.

NSW police said the haul of 63,000 coins were worth more than $600,000. It established Strike Force Bandit - named after Bluey’s dad on the show - to investigate the alleged theft.

How can I get the Bluey coins?

You can buy the new Bluey dollarbucks coins from your local Australia Post office and from the online shop from Monday, September 2.

If you pay in cash at Australia Post, you might also be lucky enough to get one of the Bluey coins in your change.

There are no pre-orders available for the coins online or in post offices.
