Bitcoin Whales Are Accumulating Control, Could BTC Hit a New ATH by the End of Q4?

Oct 19, 2024 at 03:00 am

The crypto market is buzzing with speculation that Bitcoin [BTC]  could hit a new all-time high by the end of Q4. After rallying over 10% in the past week and breaking the $66K resistance, optimism is high.

Bitcoin Whales Are Accumulating Control, Could BTC Hit a New ATH by the End of Q4?

Cryptocurrency enthusiasts are abuzz with speculation that Bitcoin (BTC) could reach a new all-time high (ATH) by the end of Q4. This speculation is fueled by BTC's rally of over 10% in the past week, which saw it finally breach the $66K resistance level.

However, there are concerns that the growing influence of perpetual traders could add to the volatility.

In a surprising twist, AMBCrypto's analysis has uncovered a hidden pattern that may make Bitcoin more resilient to sudden price swings caused by short-sellers betting against its price.

Bitcoin whales are accumulating massive amounts of BTC. According to CryptoQuant data, new Bitcoin whale wallets now hold around 2 million BTC, valued at $132 billion. Each of these wallets contains over 1K BTC, with an average age of less than 155 days. This reflects a staggering 813% increase year-to-date.

This accumulation, which excludes miners and exchange wallets, indicates significant institutional buying through self-custodial services. It suggests that more individual wallets are evolving into Bitcoin whales, a trend that becomes particularly relevant as BTC approaches a key psychological level.

The aggressive buying by Bitcoin whales may be indicating that they perceive the current price as a potential market bottom. This accumulation could also help neutralize the pressure from the derivatives market, where short positions are often seen to outnumber long positions, acting as a major resistance against Bitcoin peaks.

Considering this, does the evidence support the possibility of BTC reaching its ATH by the end of this cycle, or does it indicate an overheating market?

STHs are buying the dip

In addition to the activity of Bitcoin whales, there has been a notable increase in demand for BTC from short-term holders (STHs) over the past 18 days. This uptick is highlighted by the rising metric.

This development is significant because STHs are typically known to sell off their holdings as BTC reaches a market top, creating resistance as they cash out on gains.

However, the current increase in demand from both STHs and Bitcoin whales suggests that they may be viewing the current price as a dip, positioning themselves for potential 10x returns.

As we approach the end of this cycle, market indicators are suggesting that BTC may be poised for a parabolic run, which could culminate in a new ATH before the cycle concludes.

This analysis is bolstered by the historically high numbers of Bitcoin whales, who may help to weather the storm unleashed by speculative traders. Overall, this trend reflects the growing maturity of the market, where investors are moving away from viewing Bitcoin as a purely speculative asset.
