Bitcoin Holds Steady Near $95,000, Eyes $200,000 Target by Mid-2025
Dec 28, 2024 at 06:01 am
With U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's second term set to begin in 2025, the digital asset industry is largely optimistic about bitcoin's upcoming growth trajectory

Bitcoin (BTC) price hovered around $95,000 on Friday, following highs of over $108,000 earlier this month. The world’s largest cryptocurrency has largely traded flat around $95,000 since Christmas as investors now anticipate the world’s top crypto to eventually rally to $200,000 by mid-2025.
With U.S. President-elect Donald Trump set to begin his second term in 2025, the digital asset industry at large remains bullish on bitcoin’s upcoming growth trajectory — especially amid Trump's pledge to turn the U.S. into the world's “crypto capital.”
On Thursday, bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which debuted this January, saw $475 million in inflows after four consecutive days of withdrawals.
At the same time, ETFs for the world's second-largest crypto by market capitalization, ethereum, clocked $89 million in inflows.
"The ETF inflows highlight robust institutional support, particularly as macroeconomic conditions improve and inflation appears to be easing,” BRN lead analyst Valentin Fourner told The Block.
Bitcoin price eyes $200,000 target by mid-2025
While bitcoin is up four days in a row, showing gains of around 1.5%, the crypto market at large is seeing mixed flows. Among the gainers, lido staked ether (stETH) is up around 3% over the last 24 hours, while dvpn is leading the losers, down around 3%.
Overall, the crypto market capitalization rose by about 1% over the last day to reach around $4.2 trillion.
After a bitcoin options chain that showed limited activity at higher price points earlier this year, recent bullish sentiment has brought back attention to the possibility of the world's largest cryptocurrency reaching new all-time highs. Among the bullish analysts, those at Bitfinex are now targeting a price of $200,000 for BTC by mid-2025.
"Our minimum price target for bitcoin remains at $140,000 - $200,000 around mid-2025,” Bitfinex analysts said. “The current bull market reflects strong institutional demand, led by ETFs and spot accumulation. Historical data suggests we are mid-cycle, following the April 2024 halving, with the market likely to peak around [the third and fourth quarter of] 2025, approximately 450 days post-halving. Historically, post-halving years have seen the strongest rallies.”
The analysts added that, after bitcoin’s peak in 2025, a "crypto bear market will follow with bitcoin prices falling to a range of $70,000 to $100,000 before recovering in 2027 to reach new all-time highs."
"We expect bitcoin to reach a price of $400,000 by the end of 2027, supported by the next halving and a shift in market focus from bitcoin to altcoins," they said.
"Finally, our maximum price target for bitcoin is $750,000 by 2029, as the crypto market expands to reach a total market capitalization of $20 trillion to $25 trillion."
