Bitcoin (BTC) Price Predictions for 2025: Experts See BTC Doubling or More
Jan 02, 2025 at 11:40 pm
Bitcoin, the first and largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has increased by nearly 473% since Jim Cramer, host of CNBC's "Mad Money," labeled it a "scam" about two years ago.
Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has seen a remarkable surge of nearly 473% since Jim Cramer, host of CNBC's "Mad Money," called it a "scam" about two years ago.
This interesting fact was highlighted by Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo in a recent X post, sparking attention in the crypto market.
In January 2023, as Bitcoin traded above the $16,000 mark, Cramer labeled it "phony and a scam" on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street," adding that crypto prices are "being propped up by people who want them propped up." Prior to this statement, Cramer had invested in Bitcoin, Ether and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), but he sold all of his crypto assets before making the comment.
"I told you, get out of crypto. Get out now while you can. I would not touch crypto in a million years. It's being propped up by people who want it propped up, and they're lying to you about it being anything more than a scam."
The Mad Money host would later go on to warn investors to steer clear of crypto, urging them to get their money out while they could.
Now, fast forward to January 2025, and Bitcoin is trading above $96,000. Taking into account Cramer's statement, which was made when Bitcoin was trading at $16,807, as per the CNBC video clip shared by Rizzo, the lead cryptocurrency has gained nearly 473% since then.
Bitcoin 2025 predictions
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is up 3.16% in the last 24 hours, trading at $96,568. In December, the world's largest cryptocurrency crossed the much-anticipated $100,000 mark, hitting a record high of $108,268 on Dec. 17.
Recently, CNBC covered several Bitcoin price predictions for 2025. Among them, crypto financial services firm Matrixport predicts that Bitcoin will hit $160,000 by 2025. Meanwhile, Alex Thorn, head of research at crypto-focused asset manager Galaxy Digital, anticipates that Bitcoin will cross $150,000 in the first half of the year, before reaching $185,000 in the fourth quarter.
Standard Chartered's Geoffrey Kendrick predicts that Bitcoin's price will double. By the end of 2025, the bank's head of digital asset research anticipates that Bitcoin will reach $200,000.
Sid Powell, co-founder and CEO of centralized finance platform Maple Finance, believes that Bitcoin will trade between $180,000 and $200,000 by the end of 2025.
