Bitcoin (BTC) Breaches Rare “Megaphone Pattern”, Targeting $300K By 2025

Feb 16, 2025 at 07:05 pm

The crypto market has never been modest in ambitious forecasts, but a new technical analysis has stirred investors’ enthusiasm. A rare chart pattern, dubbed the “megaphone pattern”, is said to have been breached by bitcoin, paving the way for a potential rise up to 300,000 dollars by 2025.

Bitcoin (BTC) Breaches Rare “Megaphone Pattern”, Targeting $300K By 2025

The cryptocurrency market has never been lacking in bold predictions, but a new technical analysis has got investors excited. A rare chart formation, known as the "megaphone pattern", has reportedly been broken by bitcoin, suggesting a potential rally to $300,000 by 2025. As crypto continues to evolve in a landscape marked by growing institutional adoption, some experts are drawing parallels between bitcoin and gold, setting the stage for aをめざす道のりで交差するBTCと金400,000ドル予想に institutional adoption that could propel the coin to new heights.

A megaphone pattern fueling bullish frenzy

The megaphone pattern, or broadening wedge, is a technical formation characterized by a series of successively higher highs and lower lows, creating an expanding cone. According to analyst Gert van Lagen, bitcoin supposedly broke through the upper resistance of this pattern last November, a bullish signal indicating an upcoming acceleration in the bull market.

Lagen also uses Elliott wave theory to refine his projection, suggesting that bitcoin is currently in wave 5, which is typically the most parabolic part of the bull cycle. "Using Fibonacci extensions, we get an extension of 1.618 - 2.0x the length of the previous wave, putting a price target of $270,000 - $300,000 by the end of 2025," he explained in a post on platform X (formerly Twitter) on February 15, 2023. The analysis assumes a progressive accumulation base, which would establish a solid floor price ahead of the next leg up.

While this technical approach may appeal to fans of chart analysis, it also raises questions about its applicability in a market influenced by multiple macroeconomic and geopolitical factors.

Bitcoin and gold: a common path towards $400,000?

Beyond technical analysis, some observers are comparing bitcoin's trajectory to that of gold, using a model of normalized capitalization to suggest that if bitcoin follows gold's path, its valuation could reach $400,000 in the medium term.

This argument is bolstered by institutional adoption, with major banks like Intesa Sanpaolo beginning to integrate bitcoin into their portfolios and political figures like Donald Trump considering the creation of strategic BTC reserves. This marks a paradigm shift, as bitcoin is increasingly being considered a reserve asset, similar to gold in the past.

However, this comparison has its limitations. Unlike gold, bitcoin is still subject to extreme volatility and regulatory uncertainty, especially in the US and Europe. The question remains whether bitcoin can truly become a long-term safe haven asset.

This technical analysis and historical comparison paint a bullish picture for bitcoin, but the path to $300,000 is still littered with challenges. Institutional adoption could be the key factor in this ascent, if regulation and macroeconomic conditions do not disrupt the momentum. If the megaphone pattern theory holds true, the coming months will be crucial in confirming or refuting this scenario.
