Multiple examinations and consultations by Kazakhstan’s regulatory bodies concluded that Binance Kazakhstan meets all the necessary compliance and management-related requirements. This has authorized the exchange to trade futures on a regulated basis.

Binance users in Kazakhstan will get access to USD-margined futures (denominated in the USDT or USDC stablecoins) and Coin-margined futures (denominated in an underlying cryptocurrency), the company told Kursiv.media. However, the specific cryptocurrencies that are considered as underlying ones were not disclosed.

Binance Coin-margined futures contracts are denominated and settled in the underlying cryptocurrency, removing the need for stablecoins as collateral. Each contract has a multiplier that represents its value — each Bitcoin (BTC) futures contract represents $100, while each Ethereum (ETH) futures contract represents $10. In terms of expiration, these futures contracts can be perpetual, quarterly or bi-quarterly.

The USD-margined futures contracts are denominated and settled in USDT or USDC. They may be perpetual or expire quarterly.

In Kazakhstan, cryptocurrency exchanges are permitted to operate exclusively within the framework of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). Binance secured the necessary license in September 2022. The company’s office in Kazakhstan identified the launch of a local exchange as a key objective.

On June 21, 2023, Binance launched its local cryptocurrency trading platform within the AIFC. In October 2024, the AIFC granted Binance a full regulatory license, enabling the company to operate the platform for cryptocurrency trading and exchange, serve as a broker-dealer and offer custody services for digital assets in Kazakhstan
