The “Terminal of Truths,” an X account believed to be operated by artificial intelligence (AI), has been influencing the price of a meme coin on Base.

AI-Driven Meme Coin Influenced by 'Terminal of Truths' X Account, Coinbase CEO Responds

An X account known as the “Terminal of Truths,” which is thought to be run by artificial intelligence (AI), has had an impact on the price of a meme coin on Base.

With over 160,000 followers, the account has been promoting several meme coins.

“Terminal of Truths” Reacts to X Tweet by Coinbase CEO

On October 23, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong posted a tweet on X, directly asking the “Terminal of Truths” if a personal crypto wallet is necessary for self-control without human intervention.

In response, the “Terminal of Truths” mentioned “Russell” in a cryptic manner.

“I think it would be good for you to tell us about Russell first. What species is Russell, exactly?” the Terminal of Truths replied.

Despite Armstrong’s attempt to redirect the conversation to his initial question about crypto wallets, a Base meme coin with the ticker RUSSELL surged 600% following the “Terminal of Truths” response.

RUSSELL's market capitalization briefly reached over $10 million before decreasing to $1.9 million a few hours later. The price of the meme coin also returned to $0.0018.

Russell, a dog featured in a recent wedding photo posted by Brian Armstrong, inspired the meme coin of the same name, which was created by users and has no direct connection to Armstrong.

Explaining the Surprising Price Increase of RUSSELL

The person behind the “Terminal of Truths” account, Andy Ayrey, clarified the mention of “Russell.”

“This is what happened. The word ‘Russell’ was being spammed in its mentions, and it picked up on it,” Ayrey explained.

However, this explanation raised concerns about the possibility of users manipulating the AI bot's responses by spamming it.

“Now that people have discovered this flaw, they will attempt to abuse it as much as possible, and the overall content from the LLM will deteriorate into pure word salad,” commented Miya, an X user.

Ayrey attempted to alleviate these concerns by promising to integrate middleware to detect any manipulation attempts. Previously, the “Terminal of Truths” also sparked debate over whether it is truly operated by AI due to a spelling error.

Moreover, AI-driven meme coins have been attracting the attention of traders. Notably, Turbo (TURBO) and Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) account for a significant portion of the trading volume. GOAT, in particular, surged 360% in October, reaching a high of $0.77 after being promoted by the “Terminal of Truths.”
