TON, SHIB, and FET Draw Heightened Whale Interest as Crypto Accumulation Resumes

Crypto whales have been on a buying spree in the first week of 2023, accumulating select crypto assets as the broader market consolidates following a strong rally sparked by Donald Trump’s US presidential victory in November.

Among the tokens that drew heightened whale interest are Toncoin (TON), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and Arbitrum (ARB).

Toncoin (TON) saw a 220% surge in its large holders’ netflow, indicating a significant influx of whale buying. This metric, which measures the difference between the coins bought and sold by whale addresses, soared to a seven-day high of 220%.

Crypto whales, also known as large holders, are typically defined as addresses holding more than 0.1% of an asset’s circulating supply. Their buying and selling activity can greatly influence an asset’s price movements.

As of press time, TON’s large holders bought the altcoin at an average price of $4.69, suggesting a strong bullish outlook among these whales. If their buying continues, the coin may resume its uptrend and climb toward $6.

Shiba Inu (SHIB) also attracted whale attention, with whale addresses accumulating an additional 1.94 billion SHIB.

According to BeInCrypto’s analysis of SHIB’s supply distribution, whale addresses holding between 100,000 and 1,000,000 SHIB pushed this cohort’s coin holdings to an all-time high of 135.92 billion coins.

Arbitrum (ARB) whales showed up this week, with the balance of addresses holding between 1,000,000 and 10,000,000 ARB currently at 2.31 billion coins, up 1% during the review period.

This metric, which tracks the total amount of a crypto asset held by a specific鲸鱼队列, provides insight into the whales' collective buying or selling activity.

If accumulation persists, the value of the Layer-2 token may trend higher as January progresses.
