Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis (WY) has touted the potential benefits of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, suggesting it could help address past generations' fiscal mismanagement and reduce the economic burdens faced by younger generations, such as the national debt.

In a recent interview, Lummis stated that a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve could halve the current debt, which stood at over $36 trillion in 2025. She highlighted Bitcoin's appreciation, which could be leveraged to support the US dollar as the world's reserve currency, crucial for maintaining economic stability and favorable trade advantages.

She also mentioned that a similar model was used by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Thus, Lummis projected that a larger reserve could potentially eliminate the entire debt.

According to Porter, more than 3,300 letters have been sent to Members of Congress advocating for Bitcoin to be recognized as part of a strategic stockpile.
