World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a firm backed by Donald Trump and his family, announced a new stablecoin digital dollar called USD1. The token will be set at a 1:1 ratio with the U.S. dollar and supported by cash, bank deposits, and short-term U.S. government securities, according to a press release on Tuesday.

This new stablecoin venture marks a move by Trump's family to broaden its footprint in the crypto industry.

At present, all the USD1 tokens in circulation now are unofficial and may be counterfeit, the firm warned. It highlighted that the stablecoin is not exchangeable yet and advised investors to exercise caution.

The developers behind WLFI, Zachary Folkman and Chase Herro, encountered difficulties earlier this year when they attempted to register a new political action committee (PAC) named "MAGA Inc PAC."

However, the project quickly gained attention after becoming one of the first crypto ventures linked to Trump.

The firm is aiming to develop a marketplace on blockchain where users will be able to borrow, lend, and trade stablecoins.

The partnership with BitGo will see the crypto custody firm store USD1's reserves and BitGo Prime handle trading for the stablecoin. The token will initially launch on Ethereum and BNB Chain, with plans to expand to other blockchain networks later.
