Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is set to launch its services in Argentina after obtaining regulatory approval from the country's National Securities Commission (CNV), the company announced Tuesday (Jan 28).

The U.S.-based exchange will begin rolling out its products in 2025, catering to the growing demand for crypto among Argentines, according to Coinbase.

“We're excited to announce that Coinbase is now registered with the National Securities Commission in Argentina,” the company said in a statement. “This registration will enable us to operate within the country's legal framework for virtual assets as we begin rolling out our products.”

Coinbase is also planning to launch educational initiatives to enhance financial literacy among its users in Argentina, the company said.

“We believe that a knowledgeable customer base will be able to navigate the crypto ecosystem with greater confidence,” Coinbase said.

The expansion into Argentina follows the announcements of the upgrade to the Coinbase One subscription program, introducing a premium tier, and the integration of Apple Pay as a payment method for Coinbase Onramp, both announced last December.
