Cross-chain messaging platform Wormhole has announced that it will be deprecating support for several blockchain networks by summer 2025.

According to a Wormhole blog post, the Guardian Network, which ensures the security and sustainability of Wormhole's operations, will no longer support certain networks after a review of metrics like transaction volumes and resource utilization.

The affected networks will be fully deprecated from Wormhole, impacting Terra, Terra2, Oasis, Aurora, Acala, Karura, and Xpla. Wormhole will disconnect the full nodes of these chains from its platform during the transition, halting outgoing messages and token transfers from Wormhole. However, incoming transfers will still be possible if a majority of Guardians continue to support them.

Apart from the full deprecation, some Cosmos chains will transition to community-supported frontends. Wormhole will no longer provide subsidized IBC relaying for these chains, and Portal, Wormhole's token transfer interface, will not host a frontend for them.

The full deprecation will be implemented in two phases, with the Guardian Network first disconnecting the affected chains' nodes, followed by their delisting from the Portal frontend. These changes will be implemented by summer 2025 to ensure no disruption before this period.
