Tony Romo may have just inadvertently tipped the broadcast schedule for next week’s AFC Divisional Round Sunday.
As the Buffalo Bills were wrapping up their 31-7 Wild Card Round win over the Denver Broncos, the CBS analyst talked about next week’s big AFC showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills, with quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen taking center stage.
“The two leading MVP candidates, it’s a coin flip to me and I’ll tell you right now they are both playing the best football of their career,” Romo said. “And I can’t wait to do that game with you next week, buddy.”
“Oh, we got the call already?” play-by-play man Jim Nantz asked.
“Yeah, they’re sending us over there,” Romo said. “That’s the game I’ve been waiting for, for a while now.”
Now, it’s possible Romo just engaged in some wishful thinking. The NFL will release next week’s broadcast schedule Sunday night. It would certainly make the most sense for NFL on CBS’ No. 1 team to call the best AFC game of the Divisional Round.
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Houston Texans in the other AFC Divisional game. As many observers pointed out this weekend, the Texans always seem to end up in the early slot during a playoff round.
