If the government follows through, it could end up holding 5.25 million BTC—far beyond the 1 million BTC proposed by Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis in the Bitcoin Act introduced in July 2024.

Trump Moves First With Strategic Bitcoin Reserve

On March 7, President Trump signed an executive order establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a Digital Asset Stockpile. These reserves will be initially funded with cryptocurrency seized in criminal cases.
