Kentucky Representative TJ Roberts is set to introduce the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Act in the upcoming legislative session. The bill aims to bolster Kentucky's economy and establish the state as the "Crypto Capital of the World."

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Roberts highlighted the pressing need for states to take control of their financial futures amidst rising inflation and flawed federal policies. He expressed his belief that Bitcoin reserves could shield Kentuckians from economic instability.

"Inflation is at an all-time high. We need an independent financial strategy," Roberts stated in a Feb. 6 press release.

As part of his broader plan, Roberts also aims to eliminate the sales tax on gold and silver, arguing that it would help protect purchasing power. Back in 2024, he proposed a bill to achieve this goal.

"This will help Kentuckians protect their purchasing power and encourage economic growth," he said at the time.

Roberts' proposal notably includes a provision to ban Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) in Kentucky. He maintains that CBDCs threaten financial privacy and asserts that they would give the government excessive control over personal finances.

By banning CBDCs, Roberts aims to safeguard economic freedom in Kentucky and attract businesses seeking to operate without federal overreach. He envisions Kentucky becoming a beacon for crypto-related businesses, similar to Wyoming, which has garnered attention for its crypto-friendly regulatory environment.

Roberts' plan aligns with a growing movement among U.S. states to establish Bitcoin reserves. In South Dakota, Representative Logan Manhart has introduced a bill that would allocate a portion of the state's資金 for the purchase of Bitcoin, aiming to create a "Bitcoin endowment fund." If both states follow through with their plans, they will join at least 14 others in advancing Bitcoin reserve bills at the state level.
