Mumbai enjoyed the better chances in the first half, with Lallianzuala Chhangte hitting the woodwork early on and Jorge Ortiz being denied by Arshdeep Singh later in the half. Hyderabad had their best chance through Ramhlunchhunga, but his ambitious effort from outside the box was saved by Phurba Lachenpa.

Mumbai adopted a different approach towards the end of the game, absorbing pressure from Hyderabad and then retorting with a quick counter-attack. Chhangte had a terrific shot at capping off one such move, but his final attempt breezed away from the left post, as both teams settled for a point each from the encounter.
