The Celo Philippines DAO, together with the Celo Foundation and Mento Labs, recently hosted an event to discuss the integration of stablecoins, particularly the IRL introduction of the $PUSO stablecoin, which is pegged to the Philippine Peso.

The event, which was held at The Brewery in Poblacion, Makati, on March 8, brought together members of the Philippine crypto community, including representatives from exchanges, NFT projects, and other Web3 initiatives.

Attendees were given an overview of Celo, its goals for the Philippines, and the role that stablecoins can play in driving blockchain adoption.

Celo Foundation Director Eric Nakagawa kicked off the event by presenting Celo to attendees and expressing the foundation’s support for the Celo Philippines DAO in its efforts to promote blockchain adoption in the country.

He highlighted Celo’s mission to create a prosperous digital economy that benefits everyone, and its focus on providing accessible and affordable financial tools.

Nakagawa also noted the importance of community involvement in shaping Celo’s development and initiatives.

Following Nakagawa’s presentation, Mento Labs CEO Markus Franke took to the stage to introduce $PUSO and its significance within the Celo ecosystem.

Franke explained that $PUSO is a decentralized stablecoin that is pegged to the Philippine Peso and is available on Mento Labs’ digital assets solution platform.

He noted that $PUSO combines several key features of Celo, making it an ideal stablecoin for the Philippine market. Attendees were also provided with a brief overview of Mento Labs and its role in facilitating the integration of $PUSO.
