A new report from Crypto Czar David Sacks on X claims that former President Donald Trump has signed an Executive Order to establish the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

The initiative will see the government consolidate Bitcoin obtained through criminal and civil asset forfeiture proceedings into a reserve.

This reserve will be used as a store of value, with the government opting to hold the digital asset rather than selling it off.

The federal government currently holds an estimated 200,000 Bitcoin, although no complete audit has ever been conducted. The Executive Order also mandates a full accounting of all federal digital asset holdings to provide transparency.

A recent report stated that it would be impossible for taxpayer money to be used for the Strategic Crypto Reserve without approval from Congress. To circumvent this, officials are exploring avenues such as repurposing seized Bitcoin or creating a sovereign wealth fund.
