According to Circle, Fast Transfer is made possible by enabling message attestation before the source blockchain fully finalizes its transactions. This allows for rapid and efficient cross-chain transfer.

Moreover, the system can handle multiple cross-chain transfers simultaneously and makes optimal use of collateral to secure the transfers.

For use cases that don’t necessitate lightning-fast speeds, CCTP V2 still provides the original transfer option from CCTP V1, now called Standard Transfer.
