The new update to Bitget's $BGB whitepaper aims to enhance the token's long-term value and strengthen its ecosystem with key changes, the platform stated. Simultaneously, Bitget will also perform an immediate token burn of 800M $BGB. This will remove 40% of the BGB token supply from circulation.

As part of the updated whitepaper, the platform's core team will burn 800M $BGB tokens. This will reduce the total $BGB supply from 2B to 1.2B tokens. The burn is valued at over $5B at current market rates. This initial token burn serves as a strategic move to implement deflationary tokenomics for the token, increasing BGB's value and scarcity to the benefit of holders.
