Litecoin (LTC) officials have announced that the cryptocurrency’s official social media account was briefly hacked on January 11. The scammer attempted to promote a fake Litecoin token on the Solana (SOL) network.
The fraudulent post stated, “LTC is now in Solana,” and included a contract address and a link to a scam platform called pump.fun. The post, which contained grammatical errors, was quickly deleted after the Litecoin team regained access to the account.
According to Litecoin officials, the breach occurred through a compromised delegated account, which has been deactivated to prevent further incidents.
“Litecoin’s X account was briefly compromised today and posts that were not authorized were published,” Litecoin officials stated in a follow-up tweet. “These were live only for a matter of seconds before being deleted. We’re still investigating the issue, but immediately found a delegated account that was compromised and removed its delegation.”
The Litecoin team has fully restored control of the account and thanked users for their support.
