Three years after announcing its plans to launch a new blockchain, Berachain is finally preparing to go live.

What is Berachain?

Berachain is a blockchain based on Ethereum. Instead of using Ethereum’s Proof of Stake validation mechanism, Berachain uses one of its own inventions, called Proof of Liquidity, or PoL.

PoL aligns the incentives of validators and DeFi apps. But it will also drive fierce competition.

One of the top priorities among apps will be to capture as much BGT token emissions as possible, Mughal said.

The PoL system shares some similarities with the decentralised exchange Curve.
