The Narrative About a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Could Well Be Expanding Past the OG Crypto, New York Post Report
2025/01/17 12:48
The narrative about a strategic Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) reserve is expanding past the OG crypto, according to a report by the New York Post.
The Trump administration is potentially considering prioritizing other crypto assets such as Solana (CRYPTO: SOL), USD Coin (CRYPTO: USDC) and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) in a so-called “America-first strategic reserve,” the report said, citing unnamed sources.
This could “delegitimise” efforts to establish and promote Bitcoin, the sources told the Post.
Meanwhile, other sources are suggesting that any current problems or disagreements within the crypto space are less significant in light of the expected upcoming “crypto golden age.”
Trump Presidency Paved Way For Crypto Boom: Early Bitcoin Investor Frank Chaparro highlighted the role of the Trump presidency in advancing the crypto sector.
“The Trump presidency has already changed course for the crypto sector and the US is back in business,” Chaparro said, adding that the presidency has brought crypto to the mainstream.
“Crypto Dinner With Trump For $1 Million, Anyone?” Chaparro continued.
This Friday, Trump’s AI and Crypto Czar, David Sacks, is hosting a party with the first-ever Crypto Ball in Washington DC, just ahead of Trump's inauguration on January 20.
If you are in the area and would like to go, sadly, the event is sold out despite a hefty price tag, with tickets ranging from $2,500 to 1 million for the black-tie event.
The event includes an exclusive dinner with Trump and representatives from Coinbase, Solana, Kraken, Galaxy Digital, MicroStrategy and more.
SEC Overhaul Likely Post Trump Inauguration: Leadership changes at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are nearing with Gary Gensler’s departure.
Republican SEC commissioners Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda are said to be getting ready to help pivot the agency from its “regulation by enforcement approach” under Gensler.
As Reuters reported, the two commissioners are contemplating how to clarify rules for the industry including what the SEC considers a security. There’s also talk about some current and pending cases being reviewed, Ripple would hope they’re talking about their case.
The pro-crypto pick for the SEC chair, Paul Atkins, is widely believed to be poised to end the “war” on crypto.
