The Internet Computer is a versatile blockchain developed and launched by the DFINITY Foundation in May 2021. It sets out to become a “world computer” that can host decentralized applications (dapps). The aim is to provide controlled computing costs, which contrasts with traditional blockchains' cost variability and limited scalability. At the heart of the Internet Computer lies Chain Key Cryptography, which powers this mission with its innovative capabilities.
