Fireblocks, a provider of crypto custodian technology, has announced support for Soneium, a layer-2 blockchain network from Sony that aims to bridge Web2 and Web3.

Institutions can now securely store, transfer and mint digital assets on the Soneium network, thanks to Fireblocks' technology.

Fireblocks, which counts many large institutions among its clients, is now able to offer crypto custody services on the Soneium blockchain, which launched in January and has just $33.6 million in total value locked (TVL), according to DeFeLlama data. The network is designed to support gaming, finance and entertainment applications, using Optimism's OP Stack.

Fireblocks is a crypto custodian that provides safe storage for digital assets, which is essential for large capital allocators. Institutions like hedge funds or family offices require crypto custodians because they offer insurance for digital assets.
