Cryptocurrency exchange Binance is set to delist several stablecoins in the European Economic Area (EEA) to comply with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, the exchange announced today (Monday). The delisting will take effect on March 31, 2025.

The move implicates seven stablecoins that will be delisted from spot trading. These include Tether (USDT), Dai (DAI), First Digital USD (FDUSD), TrueUSD (TUSD), Pax Dollar (USDP), Bit USD (BTR) and IX Swap Token. Meanwhile, MiCA-compliant stablecoins, such as USD Coin (USDC) and Eurite (EURI), will not be affected.

Finally, we will be able to offer fiat to stablecoin trading in euro for EEA users by Q2 2024. Users are encouraged to convert non-compliant stablecoins into MiCA compliant alternatives or fiat currencies like euro. We will keep you updated as we approach the March 2025 deadline.

The delisting follows Binance’s ongoing efforts to secure a MiCA license and aligns with previous regulatory changes in Poland, where the exchange ceased offering derivatives products due to legal constraints.

Recently, Nigeria has filed a lawsuit against Binance, seeking $79.5 billion in damages and $2 billion in back taxes for two years. The lawsuit, revealed in a Monday report by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), claims that Binance's activities contributed to the worsening of the country's currency issues.
