Coinbase has announced that it will no longer be offering USDC rewards to users in the European Economic Area (EEA) as of December 1, 2024. This decision comes as the exchange adjusts its offerings to comply with the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.

Coinbase aligns with MiCA, set to delist non-compliant stablecoins

Enacted in June 2023, MiCA mandates stablecoin issuers to acquire an electronic money institution (EMI) license in a minimum of one EU member state.

While MiCA's enforcement commences on December 30, 2024, Coinbase has aggressively altered its products ahead of this deadline. The exchange also plans to delist stablecoins that fail to meet MiCA's criteria by the end of this year.
