Jesse, 25, from Massachusetts, is interested in vintage pieces and has been collecting coins. When they got the chance to buy a storage unit for $50, they jumped at the chance—and while it was “mostly filled with sheet music, bins and bins of it,” something special was hidden inside an old can.

They took to Reddit's r/coincollecting on their account u/burgerpossum on March 1, where they showed dozens of coins of all sizes and colors, from mercury coins to Morgan silver dollars.

Jesse said they "didn't know what they'd be worth when I found them," as they generally collect coins "for fun, not the value, and I had never personally seen some of the coins in the tin."

Rare coin and currency dealer Noah Lehmann-Haupt of Rarity7 said while there is nothing of "particular numismatic value" in the find, the silver coins are 90 percent silver and will trade "basically for their silver content" rather than their collectible numismatic premium.
