Cardano (ADA) founder Charles Hoskinson has criticised former US President Donald Trump’s Republican National Convention (RNC) speech for missing an opportunity to unify the nation.

Hoskinson, also a co-founder of Ethereum, shared his thoughts on Trump’s RNC speech in a commentary published on 20 July. According to the Cardano founder, Trump’s speech focused on past feuds and politics, rather than presenting a clear vision for the future.

“I was hoping for something timeless. Something that would unify the nation. Something that would inspire and give people hope. But instead, I saw a former president who was in a stream of consciousness reflecting on past feuds, past successes, and past grievances,” said Hoskinson.

The Cardano founder went on to express disappointment with the Democratic Party for lacking a clear leader and agenda. Describing it as a “headless government”, Hoskinson said that there is a unique opportunity to present a unifying vision for America, which was not addressed in Trump’s speech.

The Cardano founder concluded his commentary by expressing hope for a new approach in the 2024 election, avoiding a choice between a former president focused on past successes and a leaderless party. According to Hoskinson, America needs strong, unifying leadership to heal and move forward.
