1. Brawls at Coin: the "system" invented by kids

In December 2020, as infections exploded, dozens of teenagers met on the Pincio, a hill in Rome, to fight: a fight that some mistook for a "grab-like" operation. Newspapers and TV talk about it, but as with any street violence it can't just be an Instagram affair. And I know something about it.






My name is Lorenzo Giroffi, I am a journalist: I produce reports on conflicts and violence in the world, perhaps because some things that I also experienced as a kid have remained within me, and the time has come to deal with that past.






I am leaving for Bosnia to tell the story of the violence that Iraqis, Pakistanis and Afghans suffer on the border with Europe only to be rejected. But I go there above all to meet Milan. It is he - a second generation Italian, just of age, raised in Piacenza and now a refugee with his Bosnian grandparents - who between 2018 and 2019 organized a system of clandestine fights in the back of the department stores in the center of a placid provincial city. They called them "events", he tells me, hundreds of kids fighting without rules and filming themselves with their cell phones.
