XRP (XLM) Overtakes Ethereum (ETH) in Performance for the First Time in Five Months
Apr 18, 2025 at 01:32 am
In a surprising shift, XRP has overtaken Ethereum in performance for the first time in more than five consecutive months.
XRP has outperformed Ethereum for more than five months in a row, marking the first time the token has achieved this feat in over two decades of existence.
After years of trailing behind, surprising shifts in the crypto sphere have unfolded, with XRP now leading the race. This follows a period of consistent monthly gains for the token, which began in November 2024.
The interest in XRP has also brought predictions for its future, with one analyst going as far as to suggest it could hit $24 by the end of 2025.
XRP Outperforms Ethereum For 5 Months Straight
Since December 2021, XRP has outperformed Ethereum for five consecutive months, a rare occurrence in the volatile world of cryptocurrencies.
The token’s strong performance began in November, when it closed with a massive 160.4% return, followed by a 18.5% gain in December. The growth continued into early 2025, with January delivering a 47.3% increase and February adding another 4.3%.
March saw the token rise 19.6%, and April brought a 14.3% gain, marking the first sustained period in which XRP has outperformed Ethereum for over five months in a row.
"This is the first time in history $XRP has outperformed $ETH for more than 5 months in a row.” analyst Dom noted on X.
Investors are pouring money into XRP. Last week alone, the token saw $3.4 million in inflows, contrasting with broader market exits.
Its year-to-date inflows now total $176 million, compared to Bitcoin’s $751 million in outflows and Ethereum’s $37.6 million in net losses.
Analysts Have Set Bold XRP Targets For 2025
The growing interest in XRP has also brought predictions for its future, with one analyst setting a particularly high target.
Early Bitcoin investor Davinci Jeremie RECENTLY projected that Ripple’s native coin could reach $24 by the end of 2025. With XRP currently trading at around $2.10, that would mean a staggering 1,042% surge.
If this scenario plays out, it would break multiple records, including achieving a trillion-dollar market cap, setting a new all-time high for the token, and potentially seeing it enter double-digit territory for the first time.
Other analysts, such as Egrag and Javon Marks, have also set lofty targets for XRP, suggesting it could surpass the $24 target before year-end. Some market watchers have even predicted a possible high of $99.
However, it's important to note that no technical analysis or price predictions should be used as the basis for any trading decisions and always do your own research.
As of Monday morning, XRP was trading at around $2.08, showing a slight decrease of 1.4%. It had hit a high of $2.17 on Sunday.
