XRP Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) May Become a Reality Soon, Says Ripple President Monica Long

An XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) could soon become a reality as favorable U.S. crypto regulations bear well for local businesses

A U.S. XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) could be coming soon, according to Ripple President Monica Long in a Bloomberg interview on Tuesday.

"I think that we will see one very soon," Long said, regarding a U.S.-based XRP ETF. "I think that we will see more crypto spot ETFs this year coming out of the US, and I think XRP is likely to be next in line after bitcoin and ether."

Several applications for XRP ETFs have been submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in recent months. In October, asset manager Bitwise filed an S-1 application for an XRP-linked ETF. Later, Canary Capital, WisdomTree and 21Shares filed separately for offering XRP ETFs.

"We think, especially with the administration change, the approvals of those filings will accelerate," Long added.

Meanwhile, Ripple's new RLUSD stablecoin is set to be listed on more exchanges "imminently," according to Long, who expects it to become a "huge" part of the firm’s payments and money businesses.

Having rolled out to the broader public on both Ethereum and XRP Ledger in December, RLUSD had a market capitalization of $72 million as of Wednesday. It also adopted some of Chainlink's services on Tuesday to boost utility across decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, as reported.

Following Bitwise's application, several other asset managers have filed with the SEC to offer crypto ETFs, including bitcoin, ether, multi-chain and DeFi protocols. However, the U.S. regulator is yet to approve any crypto-related ETF.

In October, WisdomTree filed an application for an ether-chain DeFi ETF, whileもありましたが、決定はまだ出ていません。
