XRP's Attempt to Overtake Ethereum Fails, Emphasizing Infrastructure and Utility Differences

A crypto expert has dismissed the possibility of XRP outperforming Ethereum, highlighting significant differences in infrastructure and utility. This statement sparked a debate among enthusiasts.

Ansem, a recognized crypto analyst, attributed Ethereum's enduring dominance to its sophisticated smart contract capabilities, which have attracted a large developer community and contributed to its role in DeFi and NFT. These strengths have propelled Ethereum to become the second-largest cryptocurrency and the leading altcoin.

Moreover, Ethereum's high staking participation, gas fee model, and status as a hub for Layer 2 scaling solutions further cement its position in the Web3 ecosystem. In contrast, XRP's primary focus on cross-border payments, while valuable, lacks the broad diversity of use cases that fuel Ethereum's growth.

Despite Ripple's efforts to integrate XRP into traditional finance, Ansem believes this alone cannot challenge Ethereum's dominance, and he suggested that the global banking integration of XRP was never truly feasible.

"Don't think so. ETH has advanced smart contract capabilities, a large developer community, and plays a role in DeFi, NFT, and Web3. XRP is mainly used for cross-border payments, which are valuable but not as diverse as the use cases that drive ETH's growth," Ansem stated.

However, another market expert, CrediBull Crypto, disagreed, noting that XRP briefly surpassed Ethereum's market capitalization during the 2018 bull run.

"Yes, and it happened in 2018 when XRP briefly surpassed ETH's market cap. But ultimately, ETH has become a key player in decentralized applications thanks to continuous upgrades and ecosystem developments."

This analysis follows a report by a CCXV's researcher, who pointed out that XRP's price could surge to $10 if the cryptocurrency manages to achieve widespread adoption for cross-border payments.

"If XRP gets integrated into cross-border payments used by billions of people every day, then yes, it could hit $10. But even then, it's a big if. There are still many technical and regulatory hurdles to overcome before XRP can be used for cross-border payments on a large scale."

The researcher added that while the possibility exists, it's not the easiest outcome to envision, considering the vastness of the project and the involvement of multiple parties.

"It's possible, but not the easiest outcome to see, given the scale of the project (multiple parties, technical integration, and regulatory approval)."

The post sparked reactions from crypto enthusiasts, who engaged in lively discussions about the chances of XRP outperforming Ethereum in the future.
