Wildcard (WC) Token Airdrops to Eligible Players Ahead of Wildpaper 2.0 Launch

The developers of card-based third-person MOBA Wildcard have officially airdropped the upcoming $WC token to eligible players

Wildcard, the developer of the upcoming card-based third-person MOBA, has announced the launch of Wildpaper 2.0. In addition to providing updated information on their web3 gaming IP, the team has also begun distributing the $WC token to eligible players.

For this first phase of the $WC token airdrop, which is referred to in the whitepaper as the “Retroactive Airdrop,” eligible Wildcard players include those with Wildpass, Full Spectrum Wildpass sets, Flair and Flair sets, as well as those with Wildfile/Wildevent participation and leaderboard standing. These were the factors used to determine airdrop allocation in this first phase, so if you met any of these before March 10th, when the snapshot was taken, congrats! If you add/import the contract address from the official X announcement to your wallet extension or app while connected to the eligible wallet address, you should be able to see your airdropped tokens on the Base network.

20% of the token’s total supply was directly distributed, with the snapshot said to use both on-chain and off-chain data “to reward early adopters in the Wildcard community” by recognizing everyone who “demonstrated meaningful affinity for the Wildcard game and IP over the span of the last two years,” according to the specific section of the new whitepaper.

Will There Be More $WC Token Airdrops?

Yes, the Wildcard community and all web3 gaming fans can look forward to participating in future $WC token airdrops. This is because the team wants to continue distributing the $WC token throughout the Wildcard Exhibition Series campaign, which represents the 2nd airdrop phase. This phase uses a unique airdrop mechanism called “Airlock”, and tokens distributed during this phase are “airlocked”. While Airlocked tokens are standard ERC-20 tokens, the key difference in them is that Airlocked tokens cannot be traded straight away. Airlocked tokens can only be traded once the airlock is opened. By doing it this way, the team believes Airlocked tokens can “generate sufficient awareness and liquidity before they become tradable” in order to deliver a healthy launch backed by a “thriving holder community.”

If you want to earn Airlocked tokens and thus more $WC token airdrops, you will want to take part in the Thousands Network and Thousands.tv Platform, as that’s where airdrops will be distributed in the second phase. Thousands was announced by Wildcard last year as a streaming platform for web3 esports. So long as you join in on the Wildcard Exhibition Series on Thousands, you should be eligible for a new round of $WC airdrops depending on your participation and engagement. Events will be broadcasted exclusively on their platform, with $WC rewards distributed after each event. According to the FAQ, you won't be able to play to earn tokens directly from the main game itself.

What Info Does Wildpaper 2.0 Include?

After airdropping eligible loyal users, the team at Wildcard has updated their whitepaper to Wildpaper 2.0.

This latest iteration of the game’s whitepaper includes information on the game, IP, and the $WC token. You can find key stats on the blockchain gaming project, an overview of the game itself, and various information on the $WC token, including tokenomics, distribution, and the $WC Meta Game.

The $WC Meta Game will launch alongside the early access version of the core Wildcard game to give players a reason to continuously use and spend $WC tokens. That also means that the $WC token should become tradable when this “meta game” launches. There will be an opportunity to playtest this token-focused web3 game, but you will need to be a $WC holder in order to do so, with more details on how to participate set to be added to the whitepaper in the future.
