U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump is believed to have been the target of a second assassination attempt. How did political meme coins react to this news?

A second assassination attempt on former U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump was thwarted by a Secret Service agent on Sep. 15. The incident occurred at Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, where a rifle barrel was spotted sticking out of the bushes about 400 meters from the politician.

The Secret Service agent immediately opened fire in the direction of the alleged perpetrator, who fled the scene in a black Nissan. A passerby noticed the car driving away and took a photo, which was later given to the police.

The suspect was intercepted on the highway, approximately 72 km north of the assassination site. A search of his car revealed a GoPro camera, two backpacks and an AK-47 assault rifle with a telescopic sight.

According to media reports, the possible attacker is 58-year-old Hawaiian Ryan Wesley Routh. Prosecutors believe attempted murder charges can be brought even if the suspect did not fire a single shot.

Trump thanked the Secret Service for their prompt intervention and confirmed that he was fine:

Most other polifi tokens dedicated to Trump also saw a decrease in quotes. However, some assets showed significant growth over the past day.

The BOME TRUMP (TRUMP) meme coin jumped in price by 88%, reaching $0.0001809, according to CoinMarketCap. The asset's market capitalization is $9.8 million. Even greater growth was recorded by the TRUMP AI (TRUMP) token, whose value increased by 133% in 24 hours. At the time of writing, the asset's price is $0.004097.

Meanwhile, the crypto community expects Trump to win after recent events. According to data from the online platform Polymarket, American bookmakers have increased the chances of the former U.S. president.

According to the latest forecast, Trump will win the election with a probability of 49%. The chances of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris are estimated at 50%. As the portal indicates, bets on this event exceed $900 million.

On Sep. 16, the official launch of the World Liberty Financial project is planned. Trump’s sons are behind its creation. World Liberty Financial, originally called The Defiant Ones, is expected to focus on DeFi lending.

It is noteworthy that the official launch is scheduled for the day after the possible assassination attempt. Some publications wrote about the staged nature of the shooting back in July, after the first assassination attempt on the politician.
