After Trump’s Announcement About a US Crypto Reserve, the Market Saw a Quick Surge—But It Didn’t Last Long

Mar 14, 2025 at 05:00 am

After Trump’s announcement about a US crypto reserve, the market saw a quick surge—but it didn’t last long. Bitcoin dropped back to the low $80Ks, sparking panic among investors.

After Trump's announcement about a US crypto reserve sparked a brief market surge, Bitcoin quickly dropped back to the low $80Ks, leaving investors in panic.

With this uncertainty, many traders are shifting focus away from the usual big-name cryptos and looking for newer projects with more innovative potential.

Despite the pullback, StratoVM (SVM), Solana (SOL), and Kaspa (KAS) have held up surprisingly well, showing strength while the rest of the market stumbles.

So, with so many options out there, what are the best cheap cryptos to buy right now? Let's break it down.

Could StratoVM (SVM) Unlock Bitcoin's Full Potential in DeFi, AI, and More?

Bitcoin has always been the king of crypto, but let's be honest—it hasn't kept up with the likes of Ethereum or Solana when it comes to DeFi, smart contracts, or AI-driven applications. While those networks have built entire ecosystems, Bitcoin has mostly stuck to its original role as digital gold.

That's where StratoVM (SVM) could help. This Layer-2 solution is designed to potentially upgrade Bitcoin—it could make it faster, more scalable, and more versatile.

And so far, it's catching on. In just the past month, SVM has surged 9,275% to $0.2922, according to CoinGecko.

Even with that surge, StratoVM's market cap is at $22.9 million which is considerably lower compared to competitors like CoreDAO's $990 million.

If adoption keeps growing, there could be plenty of upsides left. And the timing couldn't be better. Bitcoin's DeFi ecosystem (BTCFi) is expanding fast, with total value locked (TVL) jumping from $307 million to $5.85 billion in a year, per DeFiLlama.

StratoVM is already trading on Uniswap, and rumors about a potential CEX listing are getting louder. The testnet is also seeing solid growth, with over 113,000 wallets and 56,000 daily transactions.

If StratoVM delivers on its promises, Bitcoin could finally move beyond just being a store of value. Instead of playing catch-up, it could become a real force in DeFi, smart contracts, and even AI applications—and SVM could be leading that charge.

Solana (SOL): A High-Speed Coin for Short-Term Gains

Attention is turning to Solana (SOL), especially with Franklin Templeton's recent filing for a Solana-based ETF, highlighting institutional interest.

But despite the hype, SOL has taken a 39% hit over the last 30 days, struggling to fully capitalize on the $9.5 billion in new stablecoin liquidity flowing into the market.

At the same time, Solana's co-founder, Anatoly Yakovenko, has voiced concerns about growing government involvement in crypto, particularly after Donald Trump announced plans for a U.S. "Crypto Strategic Reserve."

While this could help bring crypto further into the mainstream, it also raises questions about whether government-backed reserves align with blockchain's decentralized ethos.

$SOL || Anything around $100 is a strong support/demand zone.

Expect a strong shakeout/liquidation of high-leverage longs around $100-$110, possibly with a wick down to $80-$90, then a bounce back to $110 & continuation📈

That said, some analysts expect Solana (SOL) to drop to around $100-$110, with a possible wick down to $80-$90 before bouncing back to $110 and moving higher—and they're recommending spot orders over leverage.

Kaspa ($KAS) – The Fastest Proof-of-Work Blockchain Picking Up Steam

Next up on the list of best cheap cryptos to buy is Kaspa ($KAS)—a high-speed Proof-of-Work (PoW) blockchain designed for lightning-fast transactions and massive scalability.

Unlike Bitcoin, which takes around 10 minutes per block, Kaspa's blockDAG architecture allows multiple blocks to be created at the same time, cutting confirmation times down to just one second.

That means it offers the speed of modern Layer-1 networks while still keeping PoW's security and decentralization.

What makes Kaspa stand out is its fair launch—no pre-mine, no VC funding, just pure community-driven growth. That's
