To celebrate 120 years of the Australian Open, the Royal Australian Mint has teamed up with Australia Post to serve up these new collectible coins.

A Tribute to Tennis: Unveiling the Australian Open 2025 Commemorative Coins

The Royal Australian Mint has unveiled a new series of commemorative coins to celebrate 120 years of the Australian Open.

The coins, which are available in both men’s and women’s designs, feature a privy mark and come in a folder.

For a limited time, each coin has a one-in-ten chance of containing a special coloured coin.

The coins were designed by the Mint’s Aaron Baggio and feature a bold blue tennis ball, reflecting the signature colours of the iconic tennis court, with a sculpted tennis player frozen mid-motion in the power of the shot.

“Either way you choose to interpret the design, together the designs appear as if the players are playing a game of tennis,” Aaron said.

The design encapsulates the dynamic essence of the Australian Open, paying tribute to this renowned event in stunning detail.

The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by Daniel Thorne.

The Australian Open is a celebration of everything that makes tennis extraordinary — a sport of legends and a testament to skill, passion, and unity.

As the Grand Slam of the Asia-Pacific, it unites fans and players from around the globe.

These coins pay tribute to this legacy, offering a truly unique keepsake for collectors and tennis enthusiasts alike.

From Wednesday 15 January 2025, this release will be available to purchase from:
