TikTok Gifts: How Much Are They Worth and How Do They Work?

TikTok users can tip their favorite creators by sending them digital gifts, including things like the Castle – but how much is a Castle worth?

TikTok Gifts: How Much Are They Worth and How Do They Work?

TikTok users can show their appreciation for their favorite creators by sending them virtual gifts during livestreams. These gifts, which range from simple gestures like a ‘Rose’ (1 coin or $0.01) to elaborate and eye-catching designs like the ‘TikTok Universe’ (44,999 coins or $562.48), are purchased by viewers using TikTok coins, the app’s virtual currency.

Once sent, these gifts appear as animations on the creator's screen. The more coins a gift costs, the grander and more attention-grabbing its animation will be.

This creates a sense of hierarchy among the gifts, with some being easily overlooked and others demanding the attention of everyone in the livestream.

Creators can convert the gifts they receive into Diamonds, which can then be withdrawn for cash. However, TikTok takes a significant portion of the value of these gifts, with some estimates suggesting that creators receive only about 23% of the gift’s value after the platform's cut.

If you're curious about how much a particular gift is worth, we've compiled a list of some of the most common TikTok gifts and their prices below.

TikTok Gift Prices 2023

Gift Coins USD

Rose 1 $0.01

Heart 5 $0.05

Panda 10 $0.10

Popcorn 20 $0.20

Lollipop 50 $0.50

Smoothie 100 $1.00

Teddy Bear 200 $2.00

Boombox 500 $5.00

Fireworks 1000 $10.00

Castle Fantasy 20,000 $266.00

TikTok Universe 44,999 $562.48

Among the virtual gifts available on TikTok, the Castle Fantasy stands out as one of the most luxurious. Priced at 20,000 coins, this gift is valued at approximately $266.00 in real-world currency.

Its high price tag makes the Castle Fantasy a status symbol for viewers looking to stand out in a creator’s livestream. When someone sends a Castle, it’s often accompanied by stunning animations that take over the screen, making it a memorable moment for both the sender and the creator.

While gifts like the Castle Fantasy are a fun and creative way to show support, it’s important to remember that creators don't receive the full amount. After TikTok takes its 77% cut, creators are left with roughly $61 from a Castle gift. This steep margin is notably higher compared to platforms that prioritize direct payments to streamers, which has led to criticism from many users.
