Thousands in Bulacan Are Lining Up to Exchange Their Iris Scans for a Worldcoin Airdrop. But Is Your Biometric Data Really Worth Just ₱2,500 to ₱5,000?

Thousands of Bulacan residents are lining up to participate in an airdrop by cryptocurrency project Worldcoin.

In exchange for having their irises scanned, participants will receive WLD tokens.

According to local reports, the activity began on Monday, March 20, and will continue until March 25.

Those who participate will be able to claim their tokens once the Worldcoin mainnet launches.

The activity is being carried out by a local group called Bulacan Digital Chain (BDC).

However, Worldcoin Philippines has denied any involvement in the activity.

Those who participate in the activity will receive between ₱2,500 to ₱5,000.

This amount will vary depending on the time of their participation.

Those who participate early will receive more tokens.

According to the BDC group, the activity is being carried out in partnership with Worldcoin Philippines.

However, Worldcoin Philippines has denied any involvement in the activity.

In a statement, Worldcoin Philippines said:

“We are aware of an ongoing activity in Bulacan that is collecting iris scans and promising participants Worldcoin tokens.

“We would like to clarify that this activity is not being organized by Worldcoin Philippines and is not part of our official World ID rollout.

“Please be cautious and do not participate in any activities that you are unsure about.

“We will announce the official launch of World ID in the Philippines through our official channels.”

Those who participate in the activity will be able to claim their WLD tokens once the Worldcoin mainnet launches.

According to the Worldcoin website, the mainnet launch is expected to take place in Q2 2024.

After the mainnet launches, participants will be able to claim their tokens by visiting the Worldcoin website and following the instructions.

Those who participate in the activity will also be able to participate in the Worldcoin decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

The DAO will be responsible for governing the Worldcoin ecosystem and making decisions about the future of the project.

Those who participate in the activity will be able to vote on proposals and help to shape the direction of the project.
