Telecommunications and technology company Theta Edge Bhd has partnered with local data science firm iStream360 Sdn Bhd to develop solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and advanced system technologies.

The partnership is formalised through Theta Edge’s wholly-owned subsidiary Theta Innovation Sdn Bhd, which entered into a joint venture and shareholders agreement with iStream360.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Friday (March 3), Theta Edge said the collaboration aims to leverage the strengths of both entities to create pioneering technological solutions.

"The joint venture is expected to have a material impact on the financial performance of Theta Edge, subject to the successful execution of its business strategies and the company is optimistic about the partnership driving long-term growth and profitability," it added.

Theta Edge also announced the cancellation of its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India-based KEC International Ltd.

The partnership was aimed at bidding for grid projects under Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

"The company does not foresee any material impact on its financial performance as a result of the cancellation of the MoU and is realigning its strategic focus," Theta Edge said in a separate filing.

The company was among the bidders for Malaysia’s National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) project, which was ultimately awarded to HeiTech Padu Bhd.

"The company will continue to explore opportunities to expand its portfolio and strengthen its position in the market," it added.

The collaboration with iStream360 comes as Theta Edge looks to redefine its role in the technology sector.

The focus on AI and blockchain aligns with the growing demand for advanced systems that can improve efficiency and enable digital transformation across industries.

Theta Edge's strategic shift reflects its broader vision to lead in emerging technologies while maintaining financial resilience and adaptability.

The company’s leadership has indicated that the joint venture is a cornerstone of its growth strategy, with the potential to unlock new revenue streams and strengthen its market presence.

The partnership between Theta Edge and iStream360 signals a forward-looking approach to innovation in AI and blockchain technologies.

By combining resources and expertise, the joint venture aims to deliver solutions that not only meet current market demands but also anticipate future technological trends.

This collaboration positions Theta Edge to play a pivotal role in shaping the digital transformation landscape in Malaysia and beyond.
