Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino announced on April 14 that the company experienced a 13% surge in users during the first quarter of 2025

Tether, the company behind the ubiquitous stablecoin USDt, continues to expand its reach rapidly. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), CEO Paolo Ardoino revealed that Tether's user base surged by 13% during the first quarter of 2025.
The news comes amid ongoing volatility in the global crypto market, which has seen a heightened interest in stablecoins, especially in emerging markets. As Ardoino pointed out, Argentina, Brazil, and Nigeria are increasingly turning to USDt as a digital alternative to their often unstable local currencies.
"USDT is acting as a lifeline for millions," Ardoino previously stated, referring to the rising use of Tether as a "digital dollar" in economies plagued by hyperinflation and limited access to traditional banking.
While the post did not specify current user numbers, Ardoino had earlier indicated that Tether's global user base had reached around 400 million people.

Tether has continued to play a pivotal role in financial systems where citizens struggle with inflation and banking exclusion. With USDt, users can store value, send payments, and preserve purchasing power—functions that traditional institutions often fail to deliver in such regions.
This contribution has also been reflected in the increasing market capitalization of USDt, which recently hit a new all-time high of $144 billion. This milestone further cements Tether's place as the world's leading stablecoin.
