The Sui Foundation has announced the integration of Circle's USDC stablecoin, which will be natively available on the Sui network through the NAVI Protocol.
Stablecoin giant Circle has announced the integration of its USDC stablecoin on the Sui network, making it natively available through the NAVI Protocol. Backed by $120 million in USDC liquidity, this integration marks the third-largest supply of the stablecoin in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.NAVI, being the leading DeFi protocol on Sui, will play a crucial role in this launch. The integration will notably enhance Sui’s ecosystem by increasing liquidity and improving the user experience.
In contrast to “bridged USDC,” which is enabled through third-party networks, “native USDC” refers to stablecoins issued directly on a blockchain. Native assets are fully backed and exchangeable for U.S. dollars, offering users greater trust and efficiency.Integration HighlightsThe NAVI Protocol will introduce new features, such as flash loans and extended liquidity support, to incentivize users to migrate from bridged USDC to native USDC. This integration enhances capital efficiency on Sui’s network and enables smoother lending and borrowing activities.
Moreover, Sui’s adoption of USDC aligns with the growing trend of permissionless composability in blockchain technology. This allows networks to interoperate to create more efficient applications and facilitate faster cross-chain transactions, eliminating the delays that often accompany traditional bridges.
As stated in the press release, NAVI will soon release a migration plan, detailing how users can transition to native USDC and further contribute to the evolution of the Sui DeFi ecosystem.
