Story Protocol Partners with Oxford University to Advance AI Agent Communication and Negotiation Capabilities
Mar 05, 2025 at 12:45 am
The collaboration will focus on improving clarity in AI interactions and optimizing agent-to-agent negotiations, with developments feeding into Story's Agent TCP/IP framework.
Story Protocol has announced a partnership with Oxford University for a research initiative to improve the communication and negotiation capabilities of AI agents.
The collaboration will concentrate on rendering clarity in how AI agents interact and optimising their ability to perform negotiations, with developments feeding into Story’s Agent TCP/IP framework.
Agent TCP/IP is designed to facilitate the seamless transactions of intellectual property (IP) in a Web3 setting, empowering autonomous agents to exchange, license and manage digital assets.
Through this partnership, Story aims to integrate research from Oxford to further refine how these agents communicate, aiming for smoother and more transparent exchanges.
“Together, we are able to accelerate towards a future where AI agents can collaborate and exchange IP autonomously,” Story stated.
Story Protocol describes itself as the leading hub for AI agents, and this partnership with Oxford University highlights its commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI autonomy.
Story Protocol is a purpose-built layer 1 blockchain designed to register and manage intellectual property on-chain. It enables creators to register various forms of IP — including images, songs, real-world assets, and AI training data — and set terms for use, facilitating decentralized and programmable IP management.
Oxford University and AI
Oxford University recently partnered with OpenAI as part of a broader $50 million initiative, which also saw 15 top universities integrate AI tools into research and education.
The university provided 3,000 academics and staff with access to ChatGPT Edu following a successful pilot. Oxford researchers also gained access to OpenAI’s latest models and research grant funding through the NextGenAI initiative.
The partnership saw the launch of a project to digitize public domain materials from the Bodleian Libraries, making historic dissertations available online.
